It was hard doing it on our own. We lived in the US for 5 years, in Washington State and Las Vegas, Nevada with absolutely no support. We struggled through curriculum and all became burnt out on trying to do school-at-home. The kids just weren't interested in a lot of the things I thought I was supposed to be teaching them but when we finally just went with their interests and supported them fully by finding courses, finding mentors, purchasing supplies, finding information and teaching them to find information they just flew with their passions and learned so much more than they ever did from a structured curriculum.
The biggest and most important changes I have seen in Jesse since being a part of SelfDesign have been in his self-confidence, his entertaining skills and his ability to teach himself. I am truly amazed at how far he has come in so little time.
